Stephenson Funeral services for Louis D. Stephenson 92, of Baskin were held Saturday at Baskin Baptist Church with the Rev. William Smith, the Rev. Stan Thrift, and the Rev. Karen Rogers officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Hale Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Stephenson died Friday, May 17, 2002 at his daughter's residence after an extended illness. He was a resident of Baskin, retired school bus driver and farmer. He was a member of Baskin Baptist Church. Mr. Stephenson is preceded in death by his first wife, Ottice Marie Stephenson, second wife, Willie "Bill" Stephenson, son, George H. Tyler, granddaughter, Wendy Stephenson, sisters, Mansil Gray, Della Mae Halley, Georgie Glass, Allie Cagle, and Jewell Merriweather. Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Schriver, Baskin; son, Rev. Vernon Stephenson, Zwolle; and seven grandchildren. Stutts Graveside services for Luther W. Stutts Sr., 86, of Newellton were held Thursday at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Stutts died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Golden Doors of Winnsboro after an extended illness. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver and co-founder of West Carroll Pentecostal Church. Mr. Stutts is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Stutts and his second wife, Ola Mae Stutts. Survivors include his wife, Margie M. Stutts, Newellton; brothers and sisters, H.C. Stutts, Pioneer; Ruby Lee Elam, Placerville, Calif.; Sidney Stutts, Bastrop; Pearl Pace Underwood, Washington State; Juanita Mitchell, Monroe; Sue Holcomb, Winnsboro; children, L.W. Paul Perry officiating. Services are under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Thompson was a native of Columbia, Miss. She was a retired nurses aid at King's Hospital in Winnsboro and a member of Boeuf River Baptist Church in Liddieville. Survivors include daughters, Mollie T. Thompson, Flora, Miss.; Berta T. Johnson, Gautier, Miss.; sister, Mittie Girlinghouse, Pascagoula, Miss.; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
