Mrs. Ora Emfinger Dupree was born to the union of Jim and Myrtis Waller on October 19, 1920 in Zion Hill. Mrs. Dupree went to be with her Lord, Friday, January 23, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Mrs. Ora was a charter member of the Temple Baptist Church. She was a former pharmacy salesperson for several Winnsboro pharmacists. Her past times included tending to her flower gardens and watching the annual arrival of the Martins. Mrs. Dupree was preceded in death by her husbands: Marcus Emfinger and Ellis Dupree and five brothers. She is survived by three children: Myrtis DeWitt and husband Gene of Rayville, LA, Gene Emfinger and wife Nelda of Winnsboro, LA and Donnie Emfinger and wife Georgianna of Monroe, LA; one brother, A.J. Waller of Nederland, TX; five grandsons and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: her grandsons, Dennis DeWitt, Danny DeWitt, Jason Emfinger, Damon Emfinger, Eric Emfinger and her nephew, William Waller. She was a person that had a smile and a friendly word for everyone she met. She was a native of Winnsboro and finished school at Ogden High School, where she was a member of the basketball team that won two state championships. In recent years she was employed at Rosedown Plantation as a hostess and at Wal-Mart as a sales associate. She was retired and resided at Lake Rosemound in West Feliciana,West Feliciana Parish and a member of Frist Baptist Church in St. Francisville. She was a former member of Zachary First Baptist Church. She is survived and cherished by her husband, Delmus Eugene Hodges; a son, Delmus "Gene" Hodge, both of Lake Rosemound. She is survived by a grandson, Don of Woodville, Mississippi; step-mother, Edna Johnson Wood of Winnsboro; two sisters, Mae Givens of Ruston and Debbie Cureington of Winnsboro; two brothers, Charles Wood of Ferriday and Robert "Bobby" Wood of Winnsboro; and many friends. Paul Perry officiating. Burial followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Vivian Olga Stewart was born March 08, 1911, in Foules and passed from this life on Friday, January 09, 2004. she was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, whom she had been married to for 47 years, Rubin C. Stewart; parents, Henry and Minnie Good; grandson, William Max Stewart; brothers, Henry, Fred, Max, Clarence and Ted Good and one sister, Emily Butler. William Busby officiating. Burial followed at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Peters died Tuesday, January 06, 2004. Mrs. Peters was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a volunteer at the Franklin Medical Center and the Good Samaritans. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L."Bo" Hendrix and C.J. Peters. Survivors included Dianne Hendrix Oglesbee and husband Jack of West Monroe; Linda Hendrix Christian and husband David of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Breatrice Howington of Wisner; Cora Cox of Ruston; two sisters -in-law, Myrtis Ainsworth of Monroe; Madeline Johnson of Epps; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were J.L. Tyler Graveside services for Roy D. Tyler, 84, of Port Allen, La., formerly of Winnsboro, will be held today, January 14, 2004 at 2 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Perry and the Rev. Leon Ward officiating. Services are under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. He was born October 07, 1919 in Alexandria and died Sunday, January 11, 2004 in Baton Rouge. Survivors include a son, Danny Tyler of Columbia; brother, J.C. Tyler of Winnsboro; sister, Mrs. S.L. J.L. Coleman and the Rev. Jerry Shows officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mrs. Sikes died Tuesday, January 06, 2004 at Haven Nursing Home in Columbia. She was a resident of Haven Nursing Home, formerly of Winnsboro, a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith and the Association of the Blind. Her loves included painting and bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sikes; father, Albert W. Williamson; mother, Linnie Paralee Williams; son, Ronald Joseph Sikes and a host of brothers and sisters. Survivors include sons, Parsha Glen Coleman and Joseph Sikes Jr. both of Enterprise; daughters, Sarah Sikes of Winnsboro; Marsha Sessions of Paris, Texas; Jennie Hartley of Olla; Lori Bordelon of Columbia; sisters, Lanelle Young of Texas City, Texas; Bernice Blaylock of Florida; Rena Grenada of Ethel, La.; Ruth Hatfield of Winnsboro; Myrtis Shelley of Shepherd, Texas; Francis McCullough of Winnsboro; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
