McCain *************************************************** The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA May 19, 2004 Vol 147 No 35 Page 5A Jimmy Lee Antley Funeral services for Jimmy Lee Antley, 64, of Pineville, formerly of Winnsboro, were held Saturday at Gill First National Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Robertson officiating. Burial followed at Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Antley was born to the union of David and Dorothy Rolen Antley on May 28, 1939 in Winnsboro, and passed from this life on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 in Pineville. He traveled through-out the United States for many years as a construction lineman. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. Survivors include seven siblings: Erlene Box, Rayville; Bettye Joe Humphries, Winnsboro; William Antley, Clearwater, Fla.; Shirley Ducote, Pollock; Willie "Buddy" Antley, Pineville; Billy Ray Antley, Shreveport; Charles Henry Antley, Hebert; numerous nieces and nephews. Ernest Maynard officiating. Interment followed at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe. Mr. Barfield was born on Sept. 6, 1940 and passed away at his residence after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, May 12, 2004. He was retired from LaSalle Parish Police Jury. He was also a retired truck driver. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kathie Scarbrough Barfield, Monroe; daughter, Kristi Barfield, Macon, Ga.; sons, Ted Barfield, Bastrop; Tim Barfield, Swartz; brother, James Edgar Barfield, Collinston; five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Jimmy Harper, the Rev. Paul Kolb and the Rev. Bruce Cardin officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home Winnsboro. Mr. Bennett, a retired farmer, died Monday, May 17, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, he was a lifelong member of Boeuf River Baptist Church, a member of VFW, and a member of the New Hope Masonic Lodge #328. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barton and Ada Lee Bennett; brother, Dorthuly "Doc" Bennett; two sisters, Roberta B. Roberts and Lora B. Roland. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Florence Dillard Bennett, Liddieville; five daughters, Kathleen Ann Peet, West Monroe; Janet L. Huggins and husband, Skip, Liddieville; Valerie D. Mr. Shively died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at his residence. He donated his body to science. Survivors include his wife, Renee Sanders Shively, Pride, La.; mother, Mary Shively, Pride; brother, Raymond Beverson; children: Michael "Buddy" Shively, Jigger; Ashley Shively Mulkey, Fort Necessity; Michael and David Shively, both of Monroe; Michael Sanders Shively, Pride; and two grandchildren. Don Blackmon officiating and Rev. Virgil Harris assisting. Interment followed at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home Winnsboro. Mr. Harris died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Franklin Medical Center. He was a resident of Jigger. Mr. Harris work as a grocer for over 50 years and he was the owner and operator of Harris Food Store for over 35 years, and he was a member of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Devon Knox Harris, one son, Donald Edward Harris, grandson, Nathan Lamar Smedley, father, Anderson Mimms Harris, mother, Effie Agnes Smith Harris, two sisters, Clara Belle DePater and Ruby Theall; two brothers, Charles Haskell Harris and LeRoy Harris. Survivors include three daughters, Woody Sue Smith and husband, Tommy of Stonewall, La.; Kathy Lou Reitzammer and husband, Alan of West Monroe; Cynthia Devon Kenney and husband, Kenneth "Butch" of Jigger; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces nephews, friends and family; and caregiver Jo Massey of Jigger. McCain Funeral services for Hubert D. McCain, 67, of Lake Providence were held Friday, April 30, 2004 in the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Delhi. Rev. Donnie Linson and Rev. Roy C. Griggs officiated. Interment followed in the Ogden Cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi. Mr. McCain was born August 13, 1936 in Winnsboro and passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe after a lengthy illness. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Accounting and went to Lake Providence where he worked as Bookkeeper for Terrel Norris Feed and Seed Company, then worked for International Harvestor Equipment Co. and then began raising cattle and farmed until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Jessie G. McCain of Lake Providence, a stepson, Edward Keith Burgess and wife Brenda of Monticello, two step grandchildren, Edward Keith Burgess Jr. and wife Kimberly and Heather Crosby and husband Brett; his mother, Mrs. Auba McCain of Winnsboro; one sister, Bettie Ross and husband, Jim of Alabaster, Alabama; a niece, Laura McIntyre and her husband Robb, one great niece, Sierra Grace McIntyre; one nephew, Tim Ross and wife Denise and their daughter, Marina and numerous close relatives and friends. Mr. McCain is preceded in death by his father, Roy McCain, paternal grandparents, William P. McCain and Mary Hightower McCain; maternal grandparents, James Owen Maynor and Laura Sheppard Maynor. Pallbearers were James Oscar Thornton III, Bill Hudson, Jack Godwin, Jerry McCain, Tommy Womble and David Harvey.
