Don Blackmon officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mrs. Browder was born Dec. 31, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton, Illinois. She was a resident of Farmer City and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Browder; daughter, Martha Jane DeLaney; father, Maurice Baker; mother, Mary Annie (DeLaney) Baker; one sister and one brother. Survivors include three sons; Robert Browder, Danville; John Browder and Danny Browder both of Farmer City; one daughter, Catherine Wissmiller of Mahomet, Illinois; one brother and five sisters; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA March 15, 2006 Submitted August 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd Bessie "Pet" Davis Hammett Funeral services for Bessie "Pet" Davis Hammett, 85, of Bossier City formerly of Vidalia, were held Tuesday, March 14, in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Interment followed in Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville with Rev. Ron Ledford officiating. "Pet" was born to the union of Herbert, Sr. and Bessie Johnson Davis on November 18, 1920 and passed from this life Thursday, March 9, 2006 in Colonial Oaks Nursing Home in Shreveport. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin "Woody" Hammett; five brothers, Hoyt, Fraim, James Herbert, Jr. and Louis Davis; and four sisters Birtie Lee Davis, Minnie Pittman, Mary Wilson, and Mamie Wilson. She leaves behind three children Clifton "Bert" Hawthorne of Bossier City; Ronnie R. Hawthorne and wife Nancy of Goodyear, Ariz.; and Patsy Dayton and husband Dayton of Bossier City; brother, Frank Davis of Albuquerque, N.M; sisters Gussie Davis and Claudine Smith both of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Mike and Sue Hawthorne, Brian and Janie Hawthorne, Larry, Dayton, Jonathan, and Amber Dayton, Josh Dayton, and Tiana and Kevin Beard; great grandchildren Tyler, Chance, Brittany, Hayden, Jonathan, Kailin, Troy, Tandy, Brianna, Colby, numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Leroy Adams, Jonathan Dayton, Larry Dayton, Brian Hawthorne, Mike Hawthorne, and Glen Pittman. Serving as honorary pallbearers were J.F. Joe Stroud officiating. Services were under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Winnsboro. He is survived by two sisters, Annette Williams and her husband Albert of West Monroe; Betty Carter and her husband, Delma of Gloster, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews.
