Paul Perry officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville. Mrs. Fortenberry was a member of Boeuf River Baptist Church, Liddieville. She was retired from Mulhearn Protective Insurance Co. and Mulhearn Flower Shop where she worked for many years. Mrs. Fortenberry was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Larkin Fortenberry. She is survived by two daughters, Sue Easterling and her husband Don of Winnsboro; and Grace Holloway of Winnsboro; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Inez Bolsters, Topeka, Kansas; two brothers, Joe Meeks, Rayville; and Jerry Meeks, Needleton, Texas. Donnie Easterling, Buddy Strickland, Scott Wilcher, Tim Holloway, Jeff LaCaze and Ashley Peters served as pallbearers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Franklin Sun Winnsboro, LA April 12, 2006 Submitted August 2006 by: Glenda Warner Boyd James Paul "Hossy" Smith Services for James Paul "Hossy" Smith, 81, of Liddieville, were held Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Boeuf River Baptist Church, Liddieville, with Rev. Jimmy Harper and Rev. Bobby Brown officiating. Interment followed in the Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville under the direction of Gill First National in Winnsboro. Mr. Smith was born in Liddieville on Jan. 15, 1925, and died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at his residence. He was a member of Boeuf River Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman who took great pleasure in sharing his hunting experiences with family and friends. Mr. Smith also coached teams in the Dixie Youth Baseball League during the 1960's. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; their children, Gwen Horne and husband, John; Debbie Wood; Jerry Wayne Smith and wife, Pam; Kenneth Smith; Kathy Price and husband, David; Roger Smith and wife, Michelle; Donald Smith, all of Winnsboro; James Paul "Buddy" Smith and wife, Norma of Gilbert; Brenda Cook and husband, Jay, of Longview, Texas; Glenda Phillips and husband Roy, of Minden; and Rodney Smith of Baskin. Hossy is also survived by a brother, T. L. Smith of Pineville; two sisters; Irene Wiggins and Jeannette Neal both of Winnsboro; 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Gilbert Sims, Ed Roberts, Glassell Morris, Danny Davis, Harroll Russell, William Neal, Robert "Buddy" Wiggins, and Tim Williams. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Donald Hammett and the staff of Cornerstone Hospital and Hospice Care Resources.
