He was preceded in Death by: Mother-Ira Lee (Morse) Allbritton, Brother-Jesse Allbritton, Jr., and Nephew-Shawn Warren. He was a 34-year member and Past Master of Istrouma Lodge 414 F&AM. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mrs. Brewer was the only child born to James Otis and Nellie Pearl Phillips Kelley. She was born on June 14, 1918 in Nacona, Texas and passed from this life Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 in St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Mrs. Brewer was a member of Wisner United Methodist Church where she was the organist for 45 years. She was a teacher at Wisner High School and retired from the school as secretary in 1977. Having lived a life of devotion to her family and faith, we are assured that she was greeted with "well done, good and faithful servant". Services were held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the First Baptist Church of Gilbert, La. The services were officiated by Dr. Milton Williams, Rev. Woodson McGuffie, and her pastor Rev. Doyle Adams. Pallbearers were Johnny Carroll, Don Barton, Mark Carroll, Danny Barton, Carlos Smith, and Alvie Vick. Honorary Pallbearers were O. D. Johnson, Jr. and all the pastors of the Deer Creek Baptist Association. Interment followed in Gwin Cemetery, Mangham, La. under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Our Mother was born on January 23, 1916 to the union of Walter I. and E. Gertrude Johnson in Deemer, MS. She married Hiram J. "Depot" Brown on April 10, 1937. She is survived by her son, John L. Brown Sr., her grandson, John L. Brown Jr., and his wife Jennifer Harrison Brown; three wonderful great grandchildren, Caitlin Brice Brown, Carter McKeithen Brown, and Campbell Thorn Brown of Edgefield, SC; her brother Charles Johnson, of Clarksdale, Miss; and two sisters, Carolyn Sue Howard, of Nashua, NH, and Ruth DeAngelis of Providence, RI., and cousins Penney and O. D. Johnson Jr. of Chase, La. She began work as a train order operator for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1942. Throughout her career of 34 years with the railroad she exemplified the skills and dedication to her work which allowed her to advance through several positions. True to her generous and loving nature, she trained several young men in station work and telegraphy, enabling them to go on to distinguished careers with the Missouri Pacific. In 1976, she retired from the railroad. After only a short period, the opportunity to work within her faith appeared and until she was 85, she served as office manager for the Deer Creek Baptist Missions Office. For nearly 50 years she served as a Sunday School Teacher and at the age of 87, relinquished her position as organist. To the very end, she remained an active and vital member of the First Baptist Church of Gilbert. She will be remembered as a pillar of her church and her community. Known to all as "Miss Jean", her loving Christian guidance has led our family for decades. In our hearts and minds, this void will never be filled. She never met a stranger and was a true public servant for the people of Franklin Parish. She later moved to Lafayette, Louisiana to be closer to her son and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She loved people and in turn, she was loved by many. She never met a stranger and was "Aunt Margaret" to many of her young friends. She was born in Archibald to Simmie and Lela Free on Dec.22, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Alfred "Bill" McCartney. Because of her love for people, later in life she decided to become an Avon sales representative. Sales gave her the additional opportunity to enjoy so many people that she loved, while visiting and delivering products. Mrs. Prickett was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a bookkeeping supervisor at Winnsboro State Bank, where she had been employed for the past 44 years. Her hobbies included knitting, needle point, traveling and attending gospel music events. Her love was her work and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray Prickett; brother William Claudie Sewell; and infant sister Barbara Ann Sewell. Mrs. Prickett was a devoted and loving sister to Helen Johnson and husband George of Gilbert and Genny Marrioneaux and husband Bill of Winnsboro; and step-son Jay Pricket and wife Renea of Monroe. She was a doting aunt to her seven nephews and one niece and two step grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and many friends. Later she resided in Victoria, Texas. Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker, and had various jobs including department store sales, child care, and selling Avon. She was a faithful Baptist and a member of Boeuf River Baptist Church in Liddieville, Louisiana. She loved to attend church and visit with her friends. Favorite pastimes for her were cooking and gardening. Mrs. Roberts is preceded in death by her husbands Hurby Johnston, and Charles Roberts. She follows her siblings, Jim Thornhill, K. T. Thornhill, Maggie Bell Brady, Mattie McMurray, and Erma Lee Johnston to her final resting place to heaven. She is survived by her only child Almon Andrew “Bill” Johnston of Victoria, Texas; five grandchildren, one adopted granddaughter, nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, two husbands Johnny Shuff and Homer Prince, two sons Homer Doyle Prince and James Prince, two grandsons Ralph Prince, Ricky Prince, one great-granddaughter Catina Jones. Mrs. Shuff leaves behind one daughter Joyce Miller and husband Charles of Pelahatchie, Miss., 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and they considered her their second “Mama”.
