She was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Marines. She was a chef and she loved to make jewelry. She was a beautiful vocalist and was also a musician. Mr. Carter grew up in the New Zion Church Community where he was baptized with many friends and cousins. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School. His interests were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his many friends and his favorite companion, Little Bit. Mr. Carter was an Air Force Veteran serving his country from 1955 to 1959. He was employed at Cooper Truck Center for many years and previously Scott Truck and Tractor of Monroe. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Ray Carter; one sister: Mattie Grace Sims both of Winnsboro. He was born on August 5, 1962, in Delhi, La. He was a 1980 graduate of Winnsboro High School and graduated from ULM in 1986. He was a faithful fan and avid supporter of ULM football. He was a member of Lone Cherry Baptist Church. His work career included athletic director at the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston; Diagnostic Health Services in West Monroe, and in the Glenwood Heart Cath Lab. His last employment before his illness was pharmaceutical sales for P.D.I. He was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in 2003. He is survived by a daughter, Savannah Kathryn; and a son, Avery Lee of Tulsa, Okla.; by his parents, Robert Neal and Evelyn Smith Harwell; a brother, Neal Harwell; one niece, Maddy Harwell all of Mangham; Uncle, Larry Harwell and Sandra of Rayville, aunt and uncle, Sybil and Dr. Michael Albritton of Springfield, MO; grandmother, Blanche L. Harwell of Mangham; great aunt, Elizabeth Harwell and numerous cousins. He is also survived by a very special "God sent" loving, caring friend, Susan Kilgore Booth of Denham Springs. Mr. Warner was born of Feb. 28, 1925, at Holum, La. to the union of George Marvin Warner and Charlotte Vashti Volentine Warner. He entered the United States Navy at 17 and was honored with five battle stars after serving in the South Pacific as a Higgins Boat Coxswain. He served on the USS Pierce and USS Herald of the Morning. After service he came back to the Caldwell Parish area and married the love of his life, Alma Haddox on June 28, 1948. From this union was born three sons. He began his career with the Monroe City Fire Department and served 29 years before retiring in 1982. He was also an employee of McIlwain Motor Company in Columbia, and worked with Caldwell Bank & Trust Company. Mr. Warner was a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. He was an avid deer hunter and always had his deer dogs and enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Margie Warner; and by his brothers Thurman Warner and Maloy Warner. Burial will follow at Twin City Cemetery out of West Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Wimberley, a retired poultry producer, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007. Kevin Bates and Rev. George Bates officiating. Burial followed in Twin Cities Memorial Gardens in West Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Wimberley was a retired poultry farmer and World War II Veteran. He passed away on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007. Survivors include his wife: Ruth Wimberley of Winnsboro; four step-children.
