She was a dedicated 25 year employee of Bancorp South, who was also a trusted friend and confidant to many. Pat was part of a sisterhood of friends who savored their yearly trips to the beach. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe, and Ruston Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her mother Mary Lou McDonald Lane. She is survived by her father, Alvin Starnes Lane, Jr., along with three daughters and their husbands: Becky and Todd Etzel, Beth and Rodney Newsom, and Paula and Aftab "Kris" Krishna. Wayne Stroud officiating. Burial will be in the Epps Cemetery. Mr. Hatton was a cattleman, commercial fisherman and a musician. In 1957 he joined the La. Wildlife and Fisheries Dept. as a game agent and retired in 1977. Lonnie loved to play his fiddle, having played for many community centers, nursing homes, dances and benefits. Lonnie was known as one of the finest fiddle players in Louisiana. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Winnsboro; a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of the Royal Arch Masons in Liddieville, Mangham and Columbia as well as being a member of the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Hatton was responsible for raising the first flag of the Cherokee Nation in Franklin Parish, and was a member of the Boeuf River Band of Cherokees. Mrs. Kimble, Granny, to those who knew and loved her, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2009. She was born on Sept. 21, 1922 to the union of C. C. and Odie Stephens of Wisner. She was the oldest of six children. Granny's love for cooking and caring for others began at an early age. She often spoke of cooking family meals while standing on a five gallon bucket. In later years she would boast, "I'll cook as long as they'll let me." She was married for sixty one years to the love of her life, Ben C. He was self-employed throughout his working life as a land abstracter and real estate appraiser, and published the Franklin Parish Daily Legal News for over 60 years. Mr. Price was a successful businessman in Winnsboro, a charter member of the Winnsboro Rotary Club, and served on the Board of Directors of Winnsboro State Bank and Trust Company for the past 21 years. Those who knew him experienced his dry yet quick sense of humor which stayed with him until his final days. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and it was his family that brought him his greatest joy and comfort throughout his life. Mr. Price was predeceased by his parents, Allen L. and Stella Price, his daughter, Pamela Louise Price McWilliams, two sisters, Rogenia Price Hollis and Bessie Price Johnston, and a half-brother, Allen Lott Price. Daniel was born August 5, 1975 to Rodger and Rita (Long) Smith, in Monroe, and raised in Winsboro, Franklin Parish. Mr. Smith joined the United States Air Force on October 15, 1993 and served at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD, Misawa Air Force Base in Japan and at Canon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM. He was discharged in 2005. He married Jennifer Erz, June 3, 1996 in Rapid City. Mr. Smith lived life to the fullest and did everything he set his mind to. He loved hunting, fishing and working with his hands. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Smith, Rapid City, son, Kain Smith, parents, Roger and Rita Smith, Gilbert; and parents-in-law, Dennis and Margaret Erz, Rapid City. Funeral services for he and Hunter will be held 10:00 am, (today) Wednesday, July 22 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Juelfs officiating. He and his son will be interred together in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. There will be a motorcycle escort from the church to Black Hills National Cemetery following services as a show for motorcycle awareness. Anyone who is interested is invited by the family to take part. A memorial has been established by the family. Hunter was born Sept. 7, 2000 to Daniel and Jennifer (Erz) Smith, in Misawa, Japan. Hunter was active in Harney Little League and received his Orange Belt in Tae Kwon Do from the United Chung Do Kwan Association in November of 2008. He attended Wilson Elementary School in Rapid City. Hunter was an organ donor, his mother choosing to help others out of this tragedy. Thomas Peoples and Rev. Stacy Thomas Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Fort Necessity Church cemetery under the direction of Gill first National Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Thomas was born to the union of her parents, Joel Wilburn McCarty and Nezzie Roberts McCarty, May 15, 1935 in Fort Necessity, and passed from this life on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winnsboro. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Thomas; one sister: Kathryn Dickey, and a great grandson: James Raymond Ezell. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her children: Stacy Thomas Sr. and wife Patsy of Winnsboro; Mike Thomas and wife Connie of Monroe; Wanda Ezell and husband Joel of Wisner; Kenny Thomas and wife Tammy of Columbia; Gary Thomas and wife Kristi of West Monroe; Sherri Aplin and husband John of West Monroe; an Scott Thomas of Wisner; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws: Hazel Hays and husband Henry of Monroe; and Ida V. Max Lee officiating. She was interred in the New Winnsboro Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was born October 30, 1910 to J.M. and Martha Jane Liles Parks in Liddieville and died Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Plantation Nursing Home in Winnsboro after a long and productive life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband W.T. "Slick" Thompson; son William Parks "Billy" Thompson; three brothers: Baskin Parks, Ramage Parks, and Nolan Parks; and two sisters: Callie Browder and Mary Frances Alford. Mrs. Thompson is survived by two sons: Steve Thompson of Ferriday and Tommy Thompson of Shreveport; a daughter: Betty Zane Williams of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her very caring and loving daughter-in-law, Jeannette H. Thompson whose attentiveness to her during her time of illness was unending. She is also survived by two sisters: Jewel Doughty and Hazel McWiggins of Winnsboro. Mrs. Thompson was also blessed with eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She was a long time elementary teacher in the public school of Franklin Parish, and taught school for over 40 years. She was a positive influence upon all whom she taught. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University (then known as "Normal") and later earned a master's degree in education. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Winnsboro. Pallbearers were grandsons: Andy Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, John Williams, Ted Williams and friends John Guice and Billy R. Smith. James Doughty, George Price, Jr. and A. A. Interment followed at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Williamson was born Dec. 23, 1914 in Sicily Island, and passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Plantation Manor Nursing Home in Winnsboro. He was a resident of Baskin, a farmer, a retired custodian of Baskin School, and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Williamson of 69 years; son, Jimmy E. Williamson; his parents, Albert Williamson and Anna Hutchinson Williamson; granddaughter, Kaye Crabtree; four sisters and five brothers. Survivors include his children: John and Audrey Williamson of Baskin; James and Joyce Williamson of Rayville; Charles and Martha Williamson of Baskin; Tilda and Bobby Crabtree of Mangham; Rudy and Buddy Long of Baskin; Buster and Pam Williamson of Baskin; Sylvia and Lynn Williamson of Rayville; and Hope and Marvin Williamson of West Monroe; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren: J.D., Chloe, and Lele; special great-niece, Robin Storey whom we could not have made it without her; Billy Renea and all Daddy's "Little Darlings"; Plantation Manor Nursing Home nurses and aides and all other staff; many special nieces and nephews and friends.
