He met and married the love of his life, Bobbie, and their enduring love was obvious to all who ever knew them during their years of marriage. With a young family with three daughters to support, Jack made a leap of faith at the age of 28 and went into business for himself and opened a small community grocery store offering credit and delivery services. The relationships forged then with people from all walks of life stayed with Jack and his family throughout his business and political career. Jack Hammons lived his life with dignity and grace, and those who knew him knew he was the fairest man in the world. He greeted those he met with a smile and a handshake, and treated people the way he would want to be treated. Jack was a kind, gentle man with a heart that extended far beyond the city he loved. His many friends and family members have lost a great man, as has the City of Winnsboro, Franklin Parish, and the State of Louisiana.
