Adcock On April 17, 2010, a month short of his 78th birthday on May 17, Odis "Bud" W. Adcock passed from his home on earth to his eternal home. Bud was born in 1932 in Hosston, La., to A.O. and Jettie Mae Adcock and attended school later in Winnsboro. At 17 he joined the Navy and after 2 years entered the Air Force. He served two tours in Vietnam and was also stationed in Germany. After retiring, having served 20 years, he went to work at Memorex in Santa Clara, Calif. When he tired of repairing computers at Memorex, Bud quit and started a successful utility trailer manufacturing business. In 1995, he and his companion of 30 years, June Lee Runyon, moved to Winnsboro. Bud has kept busy building, adding on to his property, and collecting, restoring and working with farm equipment. Bud was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, having joined Post #4647 in North Highlands, Calif., where he resided for several years. Survivors include June L. Runyon; his brother Curtis E. Adcock and companion Florence Hitt of Winnsboro; son Randy L. and wife Trinnie A. of Los Banos, CA.; son Ricky, now living in Florida; daughter Darlene Wendlandt and husband Jeff of Santa Clara, Calif.; and daughter Lani E. Wilkin of Roseville, Calif. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Allisen A. Diaz and husband Joseph Lee, Leslie Adcock and companion T.J. Loebig, Jacob A. Coates and Hannah E. Coates, all of Calif., along with great-grandson Joseph Jacob Diaz. There are many nieces, nephew and cousins, along with four very special friends, Jason Adams, Tommy Potter and Terry Sharp all of Winnsboro, and LeRoy Hamm of Rio Linda, Calif. Preceding him death were his parents, A. O. and Jettie Mae Adcock, the mother of his children, Clariece Adcock, sisters: Selma Williams, Eva Williams and Shirley Stewart. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Bud will be cremated and at some point in time, his ashes will be scattered to "the four winds" as he requested. He departed this life on March 30, 2010. He accepted Christ at an early age, after moving to Winnsboro, he united with the Pleasant Star Baptist Church and later united with Cuba Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Harrison Thomas. Bro. Cameron enlisted in the United States Army and was honorable discharged in 1945. He received the following medals: World War II Medal, (1941-1945) Medal of Good Conduct, Japan's Army of Occupation Medal, Heroic Meritorious Achievement Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (1941-1945). Miss Goforth passed from this life on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Franklin Medical Center. She was born on December 10, 1918 at Carson, Mississippi to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Goforth who preceeded her in death. She is survived by her constant friend and caregiver, John Kenner Bell. She is also survived by her church family and her many students who loved and admired her and several cousins. Miss Goforth was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and taught school at Baskin for many years and was adored by all who knew her. Many of her former students were frequent visitors in her declining years. She was one of the first women to be ordained to the office of elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. and served on many divisions and committees of higher governing bodies of the church. In her earlier years, she served as a counselor at summer church camp. She was a faithful Sunday School Teacher and pianist at Baskin Presbyterian. She enjoyed her many years as a member of Baskin Women's Club where she was a charter member. In her younger years, she worked at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, and later she became the telephone operator at Louisiana College, Pineville. She was a very creative and talented person. She did various types of needlework and painted for a hobby. Before moving to Sicily Island she was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church, Pineville, where she served as Sunday school teacher for Tioga Manor Nursing Home. She also enjoyed serving and traveling with her senior adult church group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Ledford; parents, William Henry Brazil and Myra Lou Brazil; four brothers: W.H. Brazil Jr., Curtis Colen Brazil, M. Reginald Brazil and Charlie F. Eugene F. Love of Winnfield passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010. He was married to the love of his life, the late Dhale Malone Love, for 67 years and two months. Born October 18, 1919 in Linville, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Love and the late Katie Lou Johnson Love. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Hazel Love and Emily Powell and brothers Ed, Percy, and Charlie Love. Mr. Love graduated from Linville High School in 1937. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1947, a Master of Science degree in 1951 and his Masters plus 30 in 1952. He completed work toward a PhD at LSU and the University of Wyoming. Mr. Love taught agriculture at Winnfield High School from 1947 until 1951. He was Superintendent of Winn Parish Schools from 1953 until 1954. Mr. Love served as principal of Winnfield High School from 1951 to 1952, and again from 1955 until 1964. He was principal of Winnfield Junior High School from 1964 until 1973. Mr. Love was the Director of Secondary Education for the State of Louisiana and the Assistant Superintendent of the Louisiana State Department of Education from 1975 to 1976. Nothing made him happier than seeing the successes his students attained over the years. For thirty years he broadcast football and basketball games for radio station KVCL. He and Mrs. Love were authors of several books, among them Masonry in Winn Parish; The Lighthouses, Churches in Winn Parish; Looking Back, a History of Winn Parish; An Encyclopedia of Union Parish History and The Eastern Star in Winn Parish. Mr. Love wrote articles for Masonic publications, articles for daily and weekly newspapers at the local, state, and national levels. In 1961 he received the highest degree given by the Louisiana Association of the Future Farmers of America for outstanding service. He was Past Master of Eastern Star Lodge #151 F&AM in 1963, and Past Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Louisiana F&AM in 1989. Mr. Love joined the Scottish Rite in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1960 and affiliated with the Monroe Scottish Rite Bodies in 1970 when they were under dispensation. He served as commander of Monroe Council of Kadosh in 1974; Master of Kadosh of the Monroe Consistory in 1986; Venerable Master of the Lodge of Perfection in 1994. Mr. Love was invested with the Knight's Commander Court of Honor in 1969 and was Coroneted a 33rd degree in 1979. He was also a member and Past Patron of Palestine Chapter #55 Order of the Eastern Star in Winnfield, Louisiana. In 1978 he was Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana, 1967 Grand Steward, District Deputy 5th Masonic District, and 1966 Worshipful Master 5th Masonic District. He was the 1964 Worshipful Master of the Eastern Star Lodge, a member of the York Rite Bodies, Monroe Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Barak Shrine Club. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Hall Board, Chairman of the Masonic Education 5th District for 15 years, member of the Grand Lodge Education Committee, Chairman of Public Relations Committee, Louisiana Grand Lodge and the Grand Lodge Honesty and Integrity committee. He loved the Masonic Home for Children and served for several years as chairman of the Grand Master's Homecoming, chairman of Grand Master's Christmas Party for the children, chairman of the committee to buy school supplies for the children as well as other special projects for the Masonic Home for Children. Mr. Love was ordained as a deacon in the Baptist Church July 20, 1960. He was a lay speaker at churches, association meetings, revivals and conventions. He served as Sunday school teacher at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for more than forty-eight years. He conducted over a thousand lay funerals in his lifetime and 589 Masonic funerals. His life was all about service to his community, his state, education and to God. Mrs. Tisdale was born March 2, 1931 in Wisner, and passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. She was a retired school teacher, teaching the second grade for 33 and a half years in the Franklin Parish School System, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wisner. Mrs. Tisdale was also an accomplished musician. She performed in the opera in her younger days and continued her love of music by performing and teaching the piano. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Warner Tisdale, mother, Grace Jeanette (Ferrington) Tisdale; brothers: Walter Tisdale and Charles Tisdale. Survivors include two sisters-in-law: Irma Tisdale and Ann Tisdale, both of Ferriday; and a host of nieces and nephews. Dr. Alan Miller, the Rev. Thomas Peoples and the Rev. Woodson McGuffee officiated the service. Interment was in Oakley Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. Williams was born Jan. 16, 1925, and passed away at his home March 31, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Adell Williams; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Homer Harris of Oxford, Miss.; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Linda Williams of Wisner; daughter-in-law Susan Williams Ragusa and husband Jeff Ragusa; grandchildren Katrina Harris, Susan Hauenstein, Christi Rushing, Jeremy Johnson, Haley Barnes, Carmen Whittington and Trent Williams; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Perry Williams; and siblings Drew Williams, Rose Smith and Louis Hitt. As a young man, Williams worked as a sharecropper and in the oil industry before surrendering to the gospel ministry in 1955. He attended Clark College in Newton, Miss. and obtained his bachelor's degree from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss. He ultimately obtained his doctor of divinity degree from Luther Rice Seminary. Williams pastored several churches in Mississippi and Louisiana, including First Baptist Church of Wisner, before being appointed Director of Missions for the Deer Creek, Richland and Caldwell Baptist Associations. He served in that position for 10 years. Following his retirement, he returned to the pastorate, serving Fort Necessity Baptist Church for 10 years before retiring once again in 2008. Through the years he preached thousands of sermons, presided at many baptisms, marriages and funerals and faithfully shepherded the flocks entrusted to his care. In addition to his passion for preaching the gospel, Williams enjoyed hunting and was an avid and generous gardener. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who took enormous pleasure in his family and friends. Serving as pallbearers were Keith Bringol, Joe Foy, Tony Haring, Keith Priest, Mike Watson, Jesse Young and Michael Young. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of First Baptist Church of Wisner and Fort Necessity Baptist Church.
