Funeral Services for Reverend Donnye H. Cooper (“Donnye Boy”) will be Friday, 
November 27, 2009 at the First Pentecostal Church of Wisner, Louisiana. 
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. 
Interment will follow at King’s Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral 
Home.

Reverend Cooper was born on January 24, 1934 in Wisner, Louisiana. He passed 
away on November 24, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Rev. Cooper graduated with a 
Master’s Degree in Theology from the Pentecostal Bible Institute in Tupelo, 
Mississippi. He began his pastoral ministry by starting a home mission work in 
Red Bay, Alabama while on staff at PBI. He later served as Assistant Pastor to 
Rev. W.E. Fuller at the First United Pentecostal Church in Natchez, MS and 
concluded his ministry as founder and pastor of the First Pentecostal Church in 
Vidalia which he like to call: “The Church of What’s Happening Now”. He served 
in the United States Navy and was also a licensed Master Barber and Auctioneer 

He was a man who loved Jesus and would share the message of God’s love to anyone 
he came in contact with. He never met a stranger and would run into someone he 
knew everywhere he went. He had so much love and compassion to the human race 
and was always willing to do whatever he could to make someone’s life better. He 
loved to read a newspaper and his Bible while enjoying a strong cup of coffee 
and was always available to preach a funeral, perform a wedding or dedicate a 
baby at a moment’s notice.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alpha (“Sis”) Cooper, his 
brother, Rev. Travis (“Buddy”) Cooper, two sisters, Estelle Boothe and Elaine 
Cooper, our precious half-sister Marlene Rogers Asbill and his special friend, 
Irene Parker, Vidalia, La. Survivors include, Sisters Katie Crain, Winnsboro, 
La., Maggie Roberts, Wisner, La., Doretta Boothe, Harrisonburg, La and Nobie 
Rowley and husband Darryl. Daughters, Delaine Self and Doana Cooper of Wisner, 
La., and Gracelyn Dilley and husband Erwin of Shreveport, La. Son-in-Law Steve 
Asbill. Grandchildren, David “Biggum” and wife Kelli and Dustin Self, all of 
Dallas, Texas, Wayne Mosley and wife Lucinda of Austin, Texas, Jessica Dodson 
and husband James of Llano, Texas, Courtland Dilley and his miracle namesake 
Cooper Dade Dilley of Shreveport, La. Great Grandchildren, Madison and Kaleb 
Dodson, Erin and Nate Mosley, and Ian “Lil Um” Self.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a love offering be made to First 
Pentecostal Church of Wisner in his memory.
