James M. Griffing
 
Services for James M. Griffing, 72, of Gilbert, were at 10 a.m.,
Friday, June 23, 2000 at the United Methodist Church of Gilbert 
with the Rev. Jessie Haley, the Rev. Bill Moon and the Rev. Charles
Langford officiating.
 
Burial followed in Ward Bend Cemetery, near Gilbert, under the 
direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
 
Mr. Griffing was a former mayor of Gilbert and was retired from 
Winnsboro State Bank, having served as vice-president, and 
Gilbert Branch manager.
 
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nelda Griffing of Gilbert; 
son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Griffing of Winnsboro; 
daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and James Cureington of 
Keithville, La.; brothers, George Griffing of Jonesville; Joe 
Charles Griffing of Picayune, La.; three grandchildren, Erin 
and Seth Cureington and Jarred Griffing.
 
Pallbearers were Jimmy Prather, Buddy McCoy, Perry Brocato, 
Joe Brocato, Alvie Vick and Mike Emfinger.
 
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Brocato, Don Brocato and Junior Emfinger.
