Don Smith and the Rev. Jim Goodman officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery west of Columbia. Mr. Kenney was born in Gilbert, La. on July 22, 1915 to the union of Oscar and Josie Armstrong Kenney and died Sunday, January 02, 2000 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. He had been a resident of Columbia since 1949. He was owner and operator of Kenney's Service Station and Columbia Gin for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia, East Columbia Water District and the Columbia Lions Club. He was also a cattleman and farmer. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Kenney. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Mabry Kenney, his sons and daughters-in-law, Rep. Lelon and Loretta Kenney, Bruce and Margaret Kenney, his daughter-in-law, Clarice Kenney all of Columbia; his sister, Laura Bell Carpenter of Wisner; his grandchildren, Sherry Kenney, Pam Kenney, Jimmy Dee Kenney, Spencer Kenney and Michelle Kenney; and his great-grandchildren, Katherine Petterson, Tommy Morton and Gabriel Morton. Pallbearers were Billy ray Hall, James Harper, Gerald Childress, Bob McIlwain, Billy Wallace, Glenn Meredith and David Erskin.
