Harry Boyd officiating. Hazel Sharp May, age 89, of Winnsboro died Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. Born September 28, 1916 in Covington, LA to the union of David and Delphine Sharp, Mrs. May moved to Winnsboro from Baton Rouge in 1957. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, she was a member of the choir and flower committee and taught Sunday School and Girl's Auxiliary for many years. October 11, 1990 was declared Hazel May Day in Winnsboro to honor her for her service to the Pink Ladies Society and the community. As a charter member of the Garden Gate Study Club, Mrs. May was awarded the "Circle of Roses" in 2000 for her standard of excellence in floral design. Her hobbies included oil painting, crewel embroidery, and plate painting. Mrs. May prided herself for years in her garden, especially her irises, and her flowers have graced many wedding showers and church alters. Mr. and Mrs. May are survived by their son: Stanley Ray Mixon of Jackson, MS, their daughter: Marion Mixon Johnston and her husband: Donnie of New Orleans, five grandchildren: Robin Mixon Colby of Atlanta, GA, Amanda Johnston Talley of Bowling Green, KY, Shelley Mixon Waller of Winnsboro, Mathew Aaron Mixon and Lacey Lea Mixon both of Jackson, MS and six great-grandchildren: Joshua Ryan Colby, Jonathon Reagan Colby, Braxton Everett Talley, Jackson Thomas Talley, Zachery Waller and Zadiee Waller. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hazel S.
