McLendon Funeral services for Thomas O. McLendon, 89 of New Orleans, formerly of Gilbert were held Saturday, September 16, at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Ron Stoker officiating. Interment followed at Oakley Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday. Mr. McLendon died Tuesday, September 12, 2000 in New Orleans. He was retired from U.S. Customs Services since 1972, he was a member of Suburban Baptist Church, New Orleans; New Orleans Central Camp of Gideons International; National Association of Retired Government Employees; member of Camellia Club of New Orleans and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II aboard the USS South Dakota. Survivors include his wife, Willodean McLendon of New Orleans; two daughters, Julia Margaret Monroe of Eldorado, Arkansas; Kathleen Louise McCoy of Huntsville, Alabama; step-children, Katherine Beier, Ernest Beier Jr., Glenn Beier, Daniel Beier; 11 grandchildren , 12 great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. In lieu of floral offerings, the family requests donations be made to Giddeons International.
