Jim Taylor and the Rev. Woodson McGuffie officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Porter died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at St Francis Medical Center of Monroe after an extended illness. He was born on June 25, 1934 in Franklin Parish. He was a lifetime resident of Franklin Parish, worked with the Franklin Parish School Board as a bus driver and an electrician at Northeast Louisiana University. He was a member fo Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his parents, Otis J. Porter and Edna Mae Killen Porter. Survivors include his wife Sue H. Porter of Winnsboro; children, Rena Porter Perret and Steve of Hammond; Noland Porter and Pam of Hammond; Wayne Murphy and Laurie of Orlando, Florida; Mike Murphy and Linda of New Orleans; Pam Murphy of Winnsboro; and Joel Murphy of San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Elyse and Jillian Porter, LeAnn and Brian Murphy; Jennifer, Daniel and Sarah Dalleo and Caitlin Murphy; mother-in-law, Estell Hammons of Winnsboro; sisters-in-law, Myrtis Miller of Monroe; Linda and Jimmy Morris of West Monroe; special fishing partner, Major Boone; aunts and uncles, Betty and Bill Leshe of Monroe; Jeannette Neal, Irene Wiggins, James Paul and Dorothy Smith all of Winnsboro; Juanita Lovell of Dallas, Texas; T.L. Smith Jr. of Pineville; also a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were John W. Powell, Jacck L. DeBlieux, Frank McGough, G. B. Thompson III, Jay Morris and Mark Miller.
