Funeral services for Emmett Henry Rushing, 73, of Baskin, were Tuesday at 2 PM at the Pleasant Hale Baptist Church of Baskin with the Rev. Ed Weatherly officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn's Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Rushing died Sunday morning at the Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe following a brief illness. He was a native of Mississippi and a resident of Franklin Parish for the past 36 years. He was a retired farmer, a deacon and a member of the Pleasant Hale Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Reta Rushing, Baskin; a son, Troy Rushing, Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Bernice McKeithen, Baskin and Mrs. Pauline Anthony, Monroe; two brothers, Enoch Rushing and Floyd Rushing, both of Brookhaven, Mississippi; four sisters, Mrs. Stella Rushing, Mrs. Clara Bell Trimble, both of Brookhaven, Mississippi; Mrs. Fannie McComb and Mrs. Mammie Trammel, both of Ekiah, California; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Don Burns, Clyde Mullican, Slyvester Johns, Noble Flint, Lloyd McManus and Wayne McManus.
