Services were held Wednesday, October 13, 1999 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Reverend Kelly Wayne Clark officiating. Interment followed in Harris Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Scott was a dedicated husband, brother, uncle and friend and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was of Baptist faith. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in London and Germany during World War II. He was retired after 42 years from "The Franklin Sun" newspaper in Winnsboro, where he was general manager. His hobbies were cattle farming and other farming interest. Survivors included his loving and faithful wife of 50 years, Odell Thomas Scott of Winnsboro; brother, J.L. Scott of Crowville, La.; sister, Lowery "Sweet" LaBorde of Crowville, La.; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Barbara and Roland Arndt of Winnsboro; Velma and Al Heitzman of Pearl River, La.; brother-in-law, George T. Pharr of Booneville, Mississippi; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were James Clark, Royce Bryan, W. L. Robbins, John L. Scott, Jay Banks and David Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Dwight Pharr, John LaBorde, David LaBorde, Jimmy Hoover and George Pharr III. " To live in hearts we leave behind, is not to die."
