Smith Sr. Funeral services for Harbert B. Smith Sr., 77, of Winnsboro were held Wednesday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Blackmon and Penn McDaniel officiating. Interment followed at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Smith died Monday, December 4, 2000 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center of Baton Rouge. He was a native and resident of Franklin Parish, retired boilermaker with Kaiser, member of VFW, American Legion and Turkey Creek Baptist Church. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Two sons, David Smith and Herman Ray Smith, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Lillian S. Smith of Winnsboro; sons, James Smith of Norwood; Harbert B. Smith, Jr. and Donnie Smith both of Pearl River; sisters Gladys Jones of Winnsboro; Myrtis Strittman and LaVada Guillot both of Winnsboro; Stella Martin and Dovie Tarver both of Monroe; brothers, Curtis Smith of Winnsboro; James Ray Smith and Charlie Smith both of Pearl River; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were, Bryan Smith, Todd Smith, Adam Smith, Willie Duncan, Michael B. Smith and Jeremy Smith.
