Woodson McGuffie, the Rev. Neal Raborn and the Rev. Keith Stephens officiating. Interment followed at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Mr. Tackel died Sunday, August 27, 2000 at Sulphur after an extended illness. He was a resident of Franklin Parish, a member of First Baptist Church of Gilbert, a Mason, a Shriner, VFW and the Gilbert City Council. He had held various jobs including construction work, farming, school bus driver, bookkeeper and retired from the State Highway Department as a welder. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Tackel of Gilbert; son, Elmer Tackel Jr. of Gilbert; daughter, Patsy McFatter of Westlake; sister, Bernice Oatman of Ben, Oregon; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
