STATE OF LOUISIANA--PARISH OF FRANKLIN,
Twelfth District Court--Clerk's Office,

To the Revd. J. C. Pitts or any Justice of the Peace for the 
Parish of Franklin, or any legally authorized Minister of the 
Gospel for said Parish and State--Greeting:

YOU ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND EMPOWERED to celebrate a Marriage 
between Isaac W. Choat, Jr. and Miss M. E. Griffin of this Parish, 
and in your doings in the premises you will make return to this 
office according to law.

Witness my signature of the Seal of said Court this the 9th day 
of November AD eighteen hundred and sixty three.

BE IT REMEMBERED, That in pursuance and by authority of LICENSE 
that issued from the office of the Clerk of the Twelfth District 
Court for said Parish and State, I, J. M. Stoddard a Justice of 
the Peace in and for said Parish, proceeded, at the residence 
of J. S. Reed in said Parish, to celebrate a MARRIAGE between 
Isaac W. Choat, Jr. and Miss M. E. Griffin of said Parish, present 
and consenting to said Marriage.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have caused the said parties to sign this ace 
in presence of Wm. A. Shipley and J. S. Reed witness above the age 
of twenty-one years, and residing in said Parish, who were present 
at said Marriage and who sign this act with the parties and me 
J. M. Stoddard on this 25th day of November A.D., Eighteen hundred 
and Sixty Three.

11th District Court, Clerk's Office
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we I. W. Choat, Jr. as Principal, 
and James S. Sexton as his security, are held firmly bound unto the 
Clerk of said Court in the sum of Two hundred & fifty dollars lawful 
money of the United States, to the payment of which well and truly to 
be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs and assigns firmly by these presents.  
Dated this 9th day of November A.D. 1863.

Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such, That, Whereas the 
above bounden I. W. Choat, Jr. has this day obtained from said Clerk a 
License to Marry Miss M. E. Griffin Now should there be no legal impediment 
to the said Marriage, then this Obligation to be null and void, 
otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.  This done and 
signed on the date above mentioned.
