All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Patrick "Pad" West was a slave to the notorious Winn Parish outlaw John West, leader of the West & Kimbrel Clan which roamed the Harrisonburg Road-Natchez Trace following the War for Southern Independence, 1866 to c. 1873. "Pad" was a loyal servant to West and remained in West's service following emancipation. He and his family settled east of the John West homeplace on the old Harrisonburg Road, just inside Grant Parish. The Patrick "Pad" West Cemetery is about a mile north of LA Highway 500, and approximately one mile east of Pacton, Winn Parish, LA . (the cemetery is physically situated in Grant, and rests on the borderline with Winn Parish). Probably twenty graves are located in the cemetery, but only three are marked with headstones.
