GPS Loc 31.7898633480,-92.3726867437,Rochelle Cem This is a large abandoned cemetery with only a few of the graves marked most likely over 100 are unmarked. Has 4 fenced in areas. List updated as more markers have now been found. 1 was unreadable on my last photos and will have to be rechecked. "Rochelle" was a huge company town of sawmill employees and their families. It provided a home for more than 1,000 persons,most employed by the mill. During its heyday, it was just as large as Colfax today. Of course, as time passed and the sawmill closed down, people moved from the area, leaving behind deceased loved ones in the white and black cemetery's. Most unmarked. Son Evans and his parents. Son was driving a Taxi and was taking a colored man to what we then called the colored quarters. As he attempted to cross the Railroad he was struck by the Train and killed. His passenger survived. Clifford Thompson Sr aka Fat Thompson was the Father of Kenneth Ray, Clifford Earl, and Jim Thompson also had another child that died as a baby and this baby is buried here.
