He is beginning his ninth term of public office in Montgomery, having served four times as councilman before his first election as mayor. Harrison, who was unopposed, received 194 votes, largest number garnered by any dandiate for the towns five offices. (How is this possible, if he was unopposed?) Elected as councilmen were O. R. Lang, prominent Montgomery merchant, who received 172 votes; Mervin Wardlow, president of the Bank of Montgomery, who received 184, and Everette Nelms, building supply dealer and one of the state's leading poultry breeders, who also was given 184. The Montgomery council is composed of three members. Williard Walters, shop foreman of Booth Motor Company, received 58 votes and George Evans, another candidate for councilman, withdrew before the election. The former members of the board did not run this year. They include L. G. Smith, who served for 12 years; J. L. Nelms, real estate dealer who has been a member for 10 years, and A. Kelso, who is associated with the Louisiana Power & Light Company. I. N. Downs was returned to the office of marshal for his third term, receiving 191 votes after his two opponents , Pete Evans and E. C. "Horse Trader" Robinson withdres before the election. Montgomery, which has a population of approximately 1,065, soon will expand its corporate limits, according to Mayor Harrison. -
