Here is one location that John M. O'Neal lived in Grant Parish, Louisiana. 
The land is located approximately four miles south of Hargis, about a mile
away from the road's intersection with the Verda-Shell Point Hwy. 1240.

United States of America to JOHN M. O'NEAL, U.S. Patent 0172 dated 28 Oct
1909, recorded 15 Sept 1921, Book "GG" of Conveyances, Page 281, et seq. ,
Grant Parish Records, conveying:
      The Southeast quarter of the Southwest Quarter,
      The Southwest quarter of the Southeast Quarter,
       Section Twenty, Township Eight North of Range -
       Four, west, Louisiana, containing the quantity of
       Seventy Nine and Seventy One hundredth, acres.

Three years later, he sold the land  on September 12th, 1912 as follows:

JOHN M. O'NEAL, a married man, husband of EDITH O'NEAL, born McILWAIN, who
resides with him, having been married but one time.
To: Milton Dunn, and his wife, Isadore Dunn, born Calhoun, residents of Grant
Parish, La., Credit sale, warranty deed, dated 12 Sept 1912, recorded 18 Nov
1912, Book "U" of Conveyances, Page 38, et seq., and Book "L" of Mortages,
Page 29, Grant Parish Records, Consideration $500, Cash $150, balance in
notes.
