NEW VETERANS MEMORIAL

A new veterans' memorial was dedicated Saturday, May 30 in the Dry Prong
Cemetery with James A. DeWitt, president of the cemetery association,
officiating over the ceremony. A memorial honoring all those buried in the
cemetery had been in the planning stage for several years until becoming a
reality. Names etched in the stone are as follows:

Civil War veterans: Fountain Roberts, G.W.T. Thames and Michael Transier.
