Three miles or more of this road has just recently been graded and graveled by the Highway commission and the grading and groveling of this additional four miles will complete the Aloha-Verda road from its intersection with the paved highway 71, near the Natachie Bridge just north of Aloha, to Verda. Also the highway commission on Wednesday of this week received bids bayou Nantachie on highway 71. The for rebuilding the bridge across low bid was furnished by W>R> Aldrich & Co. of Baton Rouge for constructing the bridge and approaches for $82,000.00. The bridge to be replaced was one erected by the parish when the Jefferson Highway through the parish was built and when the paved highway was built north of Colfax this bridge was left in the highway system and has been a menace to traffic evere since on account of its narrowness.
