A number of changes were made in the charter of the organization. Approximately forty citizens, mostly from the Verda community, Montgomey and other parts of ward seven, were present at the meeting. Notable of the changes made were: That the membership be placed on an annual dues basis of $1.00, payable by April 1 of each year. The payment of dues to the association was a practice caried out for a number of years, but in recent years in order to increase the membership the payment of dues was dropped, but since this did not have the desired effect the organization has re-established annual dues for its members. All amendments proposed, as published in the Chronicle for the past several weeks were approved unanimously. A Board of Directors was appointed at the meeting, as follows: M.M.Swor, L..M. Smith, Ed Gilcrease, S.C. Shaw and L. Dow Wardlow. The Board met Friday and elected the following officers: M.M. Swor, pres., L.M. Smith, Vice-pres., Miss Odelia Purvis, sec-treas., R. U. Johnson, agricultural teacher of the Verda School was named manager of the 1939 Parish Fair.
