Feb. 10.-Farmers in this locality are well up with their work, some plowing being done. Corn will soon be planted as the farmers in this community are early planters and good farmers. We have a good 8-month school at Wheeling. Miss Eliza Payne, from the State Normal at Natchitoches, is the teacher. Rev. G. L. J. Brown is paster of the M. P. church at Mt. Zion and preaches ever first Sunday, while Rev. Isiah Watson, president of Verda College, is pastor of the Baptist church, preaching every second Sunday. Mr. Hamp Spikes of Natchitoches Parish will move to Mt. Zion, having purchased land from S. C. Curry. He and family are gladly welcomed to our community. Mr. I. B. Mitchell has moved back to this community. We are glad to have him with us again, he is such a good neighbor and worker in the church. Mr. J. W. Hughes fell from off a house several days ago, dislocating his ankle. He is slowly improving. Mr. W. R. Adams, the efficient postmaster and merchant at Wheeling, was married last week to Miss Kate Lee Maseberg. The groom is one of our nicest and most promising young men while his bride is a beautiful and accomplished young lady. The bride was beautifully dressed in white with a wreath and veil, while the groom looked his best. Quite a crowd attended the marriage and all had a pleasant time. Wishing the young couple and THE SENTINEL success I will close for now. A SUBSCRIBER. (Submitted to USGENWEB by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
