Allbright Died at his home in Grant Parish, La., February 18, 1908, John A. Allbright, aged about 80 years. He leaves a wife and six children, four girls and two boys, twenty-two grandchildren and one sister to mourn his loss. Most of them were at his death bed. He had been in feeble health for several years and said that he was ready and willing to go when the Lord called for him. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and had been a Confederate soldier and fought bravely in many bloody battles. About the last words that we could understand him to say were, "Lord, have mercy on me." Weep not dear grandmother and loved ones for grandfather has gone to rest. May we all so live that we can meet him on the bright celestial shore, where parting will be no more. He is resting with the Lord. The gates were opened wide for him to enter in. His picture is hanging on the wall, and there is his vacant ____ that cannot be filled. We miss him, yes, we miss him, but weep not for he is sweetly resting in the arms of the Lord. Written by his grandson, Albert M. Hyde. (Mr. John Albright was a pioneer Winn Parish settler living in the extreme southern portion of Winn near what is known today as Packton, La. He was a Confederate veteran and a member of Eastern Star Masonic Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., Winnfield.)
