Brown Dies Feb. 5, 1962 Mrs. Richard D. (Josephine) Brown died on Monday Feb. 5, at 7:20 A. M. at the home of a son, J. Arthur Thames of Frierson. (LA) She was born July 4, 1873 and was 88 years, seven months and one day at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Jack and Adeline Youngblood, a pioneer family of Grant Parish. The deceased was the wife of the late Richard D. Brown who preceeded her in death in 1949 and was originally married to the late Will Thames, who preceeded her in death by fifty years. She had lived in Dry Prong most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church there. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 P.M. at the First Baptist church in Dry Prong with the Rev. Moses E. Mercer of Pollock officiating. Assisting the Rev. Mercer were the Rev. Wilburn Taylor, and the Rev. James DeWitt of Dry Prong. Interment was in the Dry Prong Cemetery, Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Survivors include three sons, Jesse W. Thames , Dry Prong, J. Arthur Thames, Frierson, and S. Edgar Thames , Baton Rouge, three step-daughters, Mrs. Rosella Craig,.Alexandria, Mrs Beatrice Valentine, Colfax, and Mrs Susie Thames, Dry Prong; one brother, Ed Youngblood of Colfax; two sisters, Mrs Maggie Travis of Colfax, and Mrs. Mat Lester of Greenville, MS.
