Last rites were conducted Saturday, January 4, at 2:30 p.m. for Phillip Butts, who was claimed by death Thursday, January 2. Rev. Alwin Stokes was in charge of the services and interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were: J. P. Warren, H. F. Hicks, Charlie Bright, Morris Shaw, and J. E. Gassiott. Sixty-two years of age at his death, Mr. Butts was born in Grant Parish and moved to Winn 26 years ago. Since then he has worked for the T. and G. Railroad in their machine shops. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Beville; five daughters, Bilie Ruth, marie, Lois Annette Butts of Winnfield; Virginia and Jean Butts of Shreveport; a son, Joe Beville Butts, of Winnfield; two brothers, J. W. Butts of Route 2, Montgomery, and T. E. Butts of Epps, La., and one granddaughter, Ruth Anna Butts of Dallas, Texas.
