KIMBLE Funeral services for 96-year old Ola M. Kimble of Colfax were held Sunday evening, August 1 at at Farenzie Baptist Church with dismissal Monday morning at 10 a.m. in Farenzie Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Smith officiated with Shepard of Boyce handling the arrangements. Mrs Kimble was a retired childcare giver, and had been employed by Judge W. T. McCain and Mrs. McCain for eighteen years. She is remembered fondly by the ten McCain children, of whom it is said baby Joe was her favorite. Colfax band president W. T. mcCain Jr. recalls that Mrs Kimble was a devoted and loving caregiver "almost a mother to me". Joe McCain remembered that she protected him from his older brothers and sisters, and he could still recall her words "Ya'll leave my baby alone, now!" Mrs. Kimble, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was born October 15, 1902. She was a long time member of Farenzie Baptist Church and was an ardent and faithful worker. Her work on the Food Preparation committee will long be remembered. The wife of the late Foster Kimble of Colfax, she was the mother of two daughters, Minnie Bell Tillery and Mabel Swafford, both deceased, ad one grandson, Purvis "Butch Tillery, deceased. She is survivied by two great grandchildren in Hampton, Virginia, her Farenzie church family, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Active pall bearers were Charles Tolbert, Herbert Bush, Kelvin Loyd and Nick Jackson. Honorary pallbearers included Charles Jackson, Don Jackson, Loris Jackson, Morris Jackson, Butler Jackson, Tommy Jackson and Norlay Jackson. LOUIS H. TUMMINELLO Former Grant parish Businessman Louis H. Tumminello dies at 94 Former Grant Parish resident and businessman Louis Howard Tumminello has died at the age of 94 in Christus St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Memorial park, Pineville, under the direction of John Kramer & Son. He died Wednesday, July 28. Tumminello began his business career in 1925 when he and other family members assisted his father, E. H. Tumminello organize Central Louisiana Wholesale Grocery Inc. in Colfax. He worked for the company as a outside salesman and then several years later decided to go into the coffee roasting business. He and his wife, the former Temple Heep, established Sun Up brand coffee, which later became a part of Central Wholesale. Central Wholesale continued operating for five years following the senior Tumminello's death in 1940. In 1946, along with several other family members, Louis Tumminello organized Louisiana Wholesale Distributors, which continued to prosper until 1977 when it was liquidated. Louis was manager of the Broadway Ave. Store, while his brother Robert, operated the Fifth St. store. Other family members worked in the business as well. Along with several friends, Tumminello helped build the Rapides Golf and Country Club in Alexandria, through the help of materials donated by suppliers, and holding raffles of a Cadillac automobile and a diamond ring to help pay for labor and materials, the club was constructed Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo Moorehead and Loujean Wassonk both of Alexandria; one brother, Robert C. RAY BERNARD HICKMAN Services for Ray Bernard Hickman were Wednesday August 11, 1999 in the Hargis Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hargis Cemetery under direction of Kramer and Son, Colfax. Hickman, 72, of Montgomery died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, in V A Medical Center, Pineville. Mr. Hickman was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a seismic surveyor for over 30 years. He attended the Hargis Baptist Church and was also a member of the VFW Post #11351, J.D. Boston Jr. Survivors include his wife, Audrey L. Hickman of Montgomery; two sons, Leslie Ray Hickman of Verda and Michael Lane Hickman of Montgomery; two daughters, Katherine Bernadette Delrie of Hudson Creek and Linda Johnson Carter of Wheeling; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson, 63, of San Antonio, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, in Wilford Hall Medical Center. She was an associated member of Joshua Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Survivors include her husband, Charles Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Charles D. Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Brenda L. Jacobs of Wichita Falls, Texas, Francis K. Johnson and Yvette M. Wise of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, James M. Hall of Colfax and Charles E. Hall of San Jose, Calif.; four sisters, Ruth Neal of Pittsburg, Calif., Irene Patterson of Colfax, Jeraline Hall of Orange, Calif., and Melinda Metoyer of Oakland, Calif.; and two grandchildren. MALCOLM INGRAM SR. Services for Malcolm Ingram Sr. were Sunday August 22, 1999, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son, Alexandria. Ingram Sr., 78, of Boyce died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, in Rapides Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ingram served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific. And was a pilot and achieved the rank of captain. He was former mayor of Boyce and was a member of Boyce Lions Club. He also at one time a manager of the resort at Hot Wells and member of VFW Post No. 1736 and the Boyce United Methodist Church. Ingram is survived by two sons, James M. Ingram of Colfax and Malcolm Ingram Jr. of Mar Vista, Calif.; one brother, Ralph C. Ingram Sr. of Natchitoches; one sister, Rita Ransbottom of Alexandria; and two grandchildren. She was the oldest living member of Montgomery United Pentecostal Church, A native of Fields and a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Clarence L. Walker of Montgomery five daughters, Pauline Tims Wier of Conroe, Texas, Nevaline Addy of St. Mary's, Ga., Ruth Wheat and Illene Walker, both of Montgomery and Mazine Johnson of Coushatta; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Colfax with Rev. A. J. Johnson officiating, with burial in Farenzie Cemetery, with Winnfield Funeral Home of Alexandria attending. Nettie Jean was bron in Colfax on September 24, 1947 union of the late MR. Edgar Robertson and Mrs. Ida J. Robertson. She was a 1965 graduate of Mary E. Graham High School (see survivors listings in obituary column). Local survivors are a brother J. W. Robertson, two sisters, Rosa L. King and Veada Tolbert all of Colfax, La BRUCE BERNARD BEARD Bruce Bernard Beard 34, died August 19, 1999 in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria. He was the son of Mrs. Shirley blunt Beard an James Beard of Alexandria, and the grandson of the late Mrs. Ida Earl Ducan and Mrs. Annie Blunt and the nephew of a special aunt Ann Tucker. Funeral services for Bruce were held on Monday, August 23, 1999 in Comfort Baptist Church, Alexandria with burial in the Garden of Memories cemetery, Alexandria with Rev. Charlie Gilmore officiating. There are many family members in the Colfax area. Local survivor includes an uncle, Mr. John Richard Ward, a uncle in law, Mr. Walter Jerro Jr. and aunt in law, Mrs. Ella Duncan. Please remember these families and others in your prayers. DILLON L. YANCY The brother of Mrs. V. Y. Smith, Dillon L. Yancy died in Baton Rouge. Dillion lived with Mrs. Smith for a long time and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, under the care of Rev Charlie Brew Jr. while here. He love us and we all loved him and always enjoyed his presence in our services. Funeral services for Mr. Yancy will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 1999 in Berch Grove Baptist Church out from Baton Rouge, with Winnfield Funeral Home of Baton Rouge in charge. We want the Yancy family to know all the members of First Baptist Church and other friends in the area share with you in the lost of Mr. Dillon. We love you Mrs. Smith.
