Clay Colfax Chronicle, Nov 1, 1940 Heart Attack is Fatal to Mayor Clay of Pollock Died at family residence early last Thursday morning, October 24th. Grant Parish lost a valuable citizen through the death of Mayor William G. Clay aged 71 of Pollock who died at his home early last Thursday morning, October 24th, 1940. Mayor Clay had been in excellent health until he was stricken with a heart attack about 2:00 o'clock Thursday morning. The attack proved fatal and death followed a few hours after he was stricken. Mr. Clay has served as Mayor of Pollock for about six years prior to his retirement last year. He was employed by the Missouri Pacific railroad company as section foreman. He was an ardent civic worker and had devoted much of his time and energy toward projects which would better his town and community. He was particulary active in the Natchez Trail Association of Grant Parish Funeral services were held in the Pollock Baptist church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 26th with Rev. Glenn Lee Green officiating. He was assisted by J. B. Mase. Interment was made in the Pollock cemetery. Pall bearers were Grover Robertson, S. c. Shaw, C. L. Shaw, R. A. Walker, W. O. Johnson, E. C. Gates, C. O. Groves, G. A. Foster, Ed Hawthorne and Cecil Belgard
