D-2, Column 2 & 3. Sherman "Spike" Collins, age 63, of Bentley (La.), died 21 July 1996 at St. Edward's Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a native of Bentley, a former Grant Parish School Board member, He was a member of the 7th-Day Adventist Church in Pineville (La.), American Angus Association and the The Round Table of Lufkin, Texas. He was a co-owner of of Grant Eastern Construction Inc. of Bentley and owner of Collins Angus Farm. He was retired from Woodmen of the World Insurance Company. Survivors: Wife, Lois Collins of Bentley. 1 son, Herman "Buddy" Collins of Bentley. 4 daughters: Sheryl Brimer, Dot Whitehead, Debbie McFarland & Vicki Renee Collins, all of Bentley. 1 brother, Calvin Collins of Alexandria (La.) 3 sisters: Lois Hirsch of Alexandria; Eva Eckstein & Verda Hynes of Bentley. 9 grandchildren. Services: To be held at 10 am. Wednesday in the chapel of Hixson Brothers with Revs. Lloyd Whitman and Jack Frye officiating.
