ANDREW JACKSON DREWETT DEAD
   
   The sympathy of the entire community is with Mr. and Mrs. W. U.
Drewett because of the death of their son, Jack, which sad event occured
at the Baptist Hospital in Alexanderia at 3:15 P. M. Monday July 26th,
following an operation for appendicitis.

   Jack was born at Hargis, near Montgomery, November 27th, 1909, being
16 years, 7 months and 29 days old at the time of his death.
   At the age of twelve he put his trust in Jesus Christ and united with
the Baptist Church, where his faithful consistent Christian life has
been a beautiful example for others.

   He graduated from the Winfield High School last May and at the
funeral services conducted by Rev. Alvin Stokes, the graduating class of
'26 attended in a body, composed the choir and sang a number of songs
used at the graduation exercises, among them were the class song, sung
to the tune of "Always;" a quartet, Jesus, Lover of my Soul," concluding
with Jack's favorite hymn, "In the Sweet Bye and Bye."
   Jack was a member of Prof. Seery's Band and his presence will be
greatly missed from practice as well as all other places where it was
his habit to go.

   The many beautiful floral offer- was showed in what esteem he was
held by his classmates and all others who came in contact with his happy
young life.

   Strange and mysterious are the workings of Providence that calls away
one just on the threshold of young manhood and yet in that last sad
hour, just before the body of Andrew Jackson Drewett was laid to rest,
surrounded as he was with sorrowing parents, relatives and tearful
schoolmates, one was reminded of the truth, "In the midst of life we are
in death."

   The pall bearers, schoolmates and class mates, were: Clyde Swanson,
Herman Heflin, A...* Garris, Cedric Dickerson, Cyril Bethea and Evan
Fletcher.

   He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. U. Drewett, three
brothers, Otto, Howard and Harold, and one sister, Nannie Belle.

   The out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs
Otto Drewett, Shreveport; Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Drewett, Lecampte; Mr. T.
J. Drewett, Mansfield; Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Drewett and family, of
Alexanderia; Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Oliver and children, Verda; Mr. and Mrs.
E. L. Brock, Mrs. C. O. Oliver, Mrs. J. W. Oliver, Shreveport; L. L.
Oliver, Vidalia; Mrs. G. W. Moore and family and Mrs. Math Moore,
Packton.
