Services for John Edward Earthly Sr. were Saturday in Mount Calvary Baptist
church with the Rev. Huyey P. Lawson officiating.  Burial wan in Lone Star
Cemetery, Pineville, under direction of Frazier Mitchell, Houston, Texas.

Earthly, 72, of Alexandria died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, in St. Luke Episcopal
Hospital, Houston, Texas.  He was retired from Petron Oil Co., with 14 years
of service, a U.S. Navy veteran of Worl War II and a native of Colfax.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie Adams Earthly of Alexandria; two sons,
Stanley J. Earthly of Dallas, Texas, and John Earthly Jr. of Baton Rouge;
seven brothers, the Rev. John Earthly of Baton Rouge, William H. Earthly and
Robert L. Earthly, both of Colfax, the Rev. Arthur Earthly and Walter Earthly,
both of Alexandria, Columbus Kraft of Norfolk, Va., and Christopher Earthly of
Houston, Texas; six sisters, Alma Dixon, Inez E. Hughes, Iola Brisco and Doris
Roland, all of Alexandria, Bessie Smith of Memphis, Tenn., and Nettie LaCour
of Colfax
