The Colfax Chronicle
1886 (Date as written is incomplete)

Former librarian, Helen Sorrell, at the Grant Parish Library had gone through
some of the microfilm of the newspaper files of the Chronicle and made copies
of obituaries and/or news items, which led to death.
These were found in a folder on the book shelf at that library on a research
trip there 13 February 1999.
Copies were made and then extracted to post here in the LaGenWeb archives for
Grant and Caddo Parishes.

Died - Etheridge

     At his residence in Montgomery, Grant Parish, La. on Saturday, Feb. 20,
1886, James R. Etheridge, aged 39 years and 6 days.
     The deceased was born near Evergreen, Conecuh County, Alabama and had
recently removed with his family to Montgomery, La. where he had engaged in
merchandise.  And by his enterprising spirit and sterling qualities was
rapidly making friends.  As a husband, father, and friend he was tender,
devoted, indulgent and sincere.
