I. N. Grow, widow of Mr. A. L. Grow, deceased, aged 78 years, 1 month and 4 days. Deceased was born in Natchitoches parish and was the daughter of Mr. Valmont Tessier, a prominent planter of that section. She had been married three times. Her first husband was Neal McLean, whom she married January 22, 1846. She next married his cousin, L. D. McLean, March 27, 1857, and A. L. Grow, December 27, 1865, all of whom she survived. For the past nine years she has resided at Montgomery and Winnfield, the past six years being spent in the latter place, with her daughter, Mrs. M. F. Machen, who is the only survivor of her six children. She resided in Colfax for 30 years, and her remains were taken to that place Monday morning, to be laid beside her last husband. Besides her daughter, 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren remain to mourn her death at a ripe old age. A number of her near relatives accompanied the remains to her last resting place. Mrs. Grow's life has been one of usefulness and devotion to her family. Her long experience made her familiar with many of the stirring scenes of the war and the subsequent reconstruction period. She was a Christian woman, the dispenser of many charities and deeds of love and kindness. She passed away in full trust of a future reward for her unfaltering faith, and thoroughly resigned. She leaves many close relatives to mourn her loss and a host of friends to remember her deeds of love and kindness. To the many stricken relatives this writer extends a sincere sympathy, born of long years of acquaintance with the deceased when her life was in its brightest.
