Garner Services for Charles E. Garner were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Southern with the Rev Ray Teal officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery, Wheeling. Garner, 74, of Montgomery died Monday, Sept 21, 1998, in Summit Institute Shreveport. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Shreveport Transit with 35 years of service. He was a member of Atlanta Baptist Church and Montgomery VFW. Survivors include his wife, Opal S. Garner of Montgomery, three daughters, Sheryl G. Middlebooks of Flower Mounds, Texas, Rebecca G. Holland of Arlington, Texas, and Susan G. McCalman of Omaha, Neb; one brother Joe D. Garner of Shreveport, and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hershel Stroud, Warren Stroud, Howard Stroud, Pete Fowler, Dennis Kieffer and Glyn Nutt.
