GAY HELD HERE MONDAY AFTERNOON Louis-Bennett Gay, aged 55 years, died Sunday, 11:15 at the family home on the Mirabeau plantation near Colfax. Mr. Gay was born in Natchitoches parish at Robeline and was reared there and at Zwolle. In 1908 he came to Colfax and was exploded at the Good Pine Lumber Co., as cashier and bookkeeper; remaining here until the Lumber Company dissolved. He went to Ewing, Texas and later returned to Colfax in 1926, since then he has been engaged in planting operations on the Mirabeau plantation. He was well known in Colfax and active in civic affairs, and served as a member of the Board of Aldermen of the town of Colfax from 1920 to 1923. He was a member of the Methodist church. The deceased had been in ill health for the past year or more, but was confined to his bed for only a short duration. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Fraser Gay; two sons Robert F. Gay and Louis B. Gay Jr., and one daughter, Manadalow Gay, all of Colfax. he also leaves one brother, R. L. Gay of Zwolle, and two sisters, Mrs. T.C. Webb, of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. W.H.H. Moores of Florida. Funeral services were conducted from the family residence at 20'clock Monday on, with Rev.J.c. Rousseaux officating. Interment was made in the Colfax cemetery.
