HORN Colfax Chronicle, Feb 1913 Died Horn At his home near Montgomery at 12:47 in the afternoon on Sat Feb 22 1913, Mr. John W. Horn, a native of Georgia, born Dec 4, 1834, departed this life aged 78 years 2 months and 2 days. The deceased was first married to Mary F. Piggot of Claiborne Parish in 1860. By this union he had 12 children, 5 of whom are dead and 7 living, H.H. Horn, L.W. Horn, A.L. Horn, Mrs J.L. Megison, Mrs. Mary Weaver, Mrs Edmond Phillips, Mrs Dan Thompson. He later in life was married to Louisiana Lacorder but by this marriage had no issue. Mr. Horn enlisted as a confederate soldier in the 12th Louisiana Regiment in 1861 and served 4 years in the army having surrendered at Vicksburg in July 1865. His remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Zion Cemetery on Feb 23. Mr. J. I. McCain officiating at the funeral services and a large concourse of relatives and friends. Among them were quite a number of old confederate soldiers. Note: The surname of Lacorder was spelled wrong in this obit. The actually spelling of Louisiana's last name was Recorder. She had been previously married to Willie Recorder and her maiden name was Bradley.
