Oscar Corley Hyde
Services for Oscar Corley Hyde will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel
of Hixson Bros., Pineville, with the Revs. James W. Reid and Bob Boyt
officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery, Colfax.
Hyde, 76, of Colfax died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in his residence.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in Rhineland,
Central Europe and northern France. He received the EAMC Medal, three
Bronze Stars and a Meritorious Service Unit Plaque. He was a former
electrician for Central Louisiana Electric Company and was the former
owner and operator of Hyde Hardware and Electric Store in Colfax. He
was also a former member of the Grant Parish School Board and a member
of Colfax United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lee Fredieu Hyde of Colfax; one son,
James Clay Hyde of Colfax; two daughters, Nena Hyde Morris of Tyler,
Texas, and Janene Hyde Sudduth of Colfax; two sisters, Katherine Hyde
of Bossier City and LaVerne H. Tisdale of Haughton; six grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
