All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** MARY TEDDLIE JACKSON August 22, 1946 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Mary Jackson, 93, Of Hargis, Buried At Mars Hill Mrs. Mary Jackson, 93, whose life span bridged four wars, died at the home of her son at Hargis Saturday morning. She was confined to her bed for eight years after suffering a broken hip in a fall in her yard. Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at the Mars Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Crain of Columbia, La., officiating. Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Burial was in the Mars Hill Cemetery. On November 16, 1946, Mrs. Jackson would have celebrated her ninety-fourth birthday. She was born at Curthburt, Georgia, and was five years of age when she came to Winn Parish with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Teddlie. On December 21, 1871, she married Matthew E. Jackson, who preceded her in death about fifteen years ago. There were eight children born and reared by them. She made her home in Winn Parish until the early 1900s when she moved to Grant Parish, where she lived the rest of her life. Mrs. Jackson is survived by six sons, Andrew, Matt, Early, Clarence, Bob, and Jim, all of Hargis, La. Mrs. Jackson took turns in living in the homes of her sons, and was cared for by the sons and their wives. Surviving, also, are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A half-dozen grandsons served in World War II. Mrs. Jackson was the sister of J. W. Teddlie, of Winnfield, and the aunt of Mrs. Ethleen Riser, late publisher of the Enterprise.
