Obit: William R. Jones, Grant Parish La Submitted by: Houston Tracy Jr The Colfax Chronicle May 5, 1932 Former librarian, Helen Sorrell, at the Grant Parish Library had gone through some of the microfilm of the newspaper files of the Chronicle and made copies of obituaries and/or news items, which led to death. These were found in a folder on the book shelf at that library on a research trip there 13 February 1999. Jones is Buried on Thursday Funeral services were held at the home of W.J.B. Jones, for his father, William R. Jones, prominent Colfax citizen, on Thursday, April 28, 1932. Interment followed in the Fairfield cemetery at 4 o'clock that afternoon. At the time of his death, Mr. Jones was 63 years, 11 months and 17 days. He has been in ill health for a considerable time and though naturally a shock to family and friends, his death came not unexpected to them. He passed away after being removed from the sanitarium in Shreveport, La. Mr. Jones was born and reared in Tennessee and moved to Grant Parish, La. in 1907. In July of 1923, he moved to Colfax, La. where he established a general merchandising store and here made many friends, who will regret his passing very much. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. W.R. Jones, two sons: W.J.B. Jones and G.W. Jones, both of Colfax; two brothers: C.G. jones of Grant Parish and L.F. Jones of Palestine, Arkansas; and one sister, Mrs. Ida Young of Palestine, Arkansas. Following later in this paper is a Card of Thanks from the Family
