Obit: Mollie Holland Maxwell, Grant Parish La Submitted by Houston Tracy Jr. The Colfax Chronicle March 9, 1934 Former librarian, Helen Sorrell, at the Grant Parish Library had gone through some of the microfilm of the newspaper files of the Chronicle and made copies of obituaries and/or news items, which led to death. These were found in a folder on the book shelf at that library on a research trip there 13 February 1999. Maxwell - Died in Shreveport - Sunday Afternoon Mrs. Mollie Holland Maxwell, aged 46 years, wife of R.S. Maxwell of Route 1, Colfax, La., died in a Shreveport hospital last Sunday afternoon, May 4th at 4 o'clock after an illness of two months duration. The remains were brought to the family home in the Oak Grove community in Grant Parish, 8 miles east of Colfax, Sunday night and funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 5 at the Oak Grove church, the religious rites being conducted by Rev. Foster of Verda (La.). Interment was made in the Oak Grove cemetery. Besides her husband, R.S. Maxwell, the deceased is survived by twelve children, as follows: Elton Maxwell of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Altie Reeves and Kinnard Maxwell of Route 1, Colfax, La.; Bill Maxwell of Dry Prong, La.; Mrs. Goldie Lemoine of Verda, La.; Misses Pauline and Annie Lee Maxwell and Weylan, Guy, Robert Wilford and an infant, not yet named, all of whom reside with their father in the Oak Grove community. Two sisters and three brothers, namely: Mrs. Maggie Blundell of Jonesboro, La,; Mrs. Lulu Strand of Shreveport, La.; George C. Holland and Ollie Holland of Jonesboro, La. and Ben F. Holland of Shreveport, La. NOTE: Was she married twice ? Is Wilford a middle name for Robert ? Or the surname for the 3 aforementioned boys ?
