Jefferson Monroe of Dry Prong dies

  Jefferson Iatt Monroe, 76 of Dry Prong, died at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 15
in Rapides General Hospital. He was a retired reforester and a native of
Hineston.

  Suvivors include his wife, Velma Slayter Monroe of Dry Prong; two sons,
Murrell Monroe of Dry Prong and Charles Monroe of Pollock; four daughters,
clara Glenn, Estelle Crooms, Mary Beasley and Lessie Kelly, all of Pollock; 18
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 in the chapel of
Hixson Bros with the Revs. homer Bryant and robert Sexton officiating. Burial
was in Frazier Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were Mike Beasley, Carl Glenn, Raymond Adams, Melvin Hicks, Jr.,
Murrell Slayter and Billy Fox.
