Obit: Jane Purvis, Grant Parish La Submitted by Houston Tracy Jr. The Colfax Chronicle July 7, 1932 Former librarian, Helen Sorrell, at the Grant Parish Library had gone through some of the microfilm of the newspaper files of the Chronicle and made copies of obituaries and/or news items, which led to death. These were found in a folder on the book shelf at that library on a research trip there 13 February 1999. Deceased was the widow of George Purvis, who preceded her to the grave about 5 years ago. She leaves only one brother, A.N. Wilson of Texas. (then it repeats and shows, Wilson of Tioga) She was a sister of the late Mrs. Ella Curtis of Alexandria, who passed away last February 10. The following are her nieces and nephews: Mrs. B.F. Daye, Pineville; Mrs. I.L. Moore, Mrs. Lena Wharton, Ed and Oscar Curtis, Alexandria; Cleve Wilson, C.J. Curtis, Kingsville. Mrs. Purvis was possessed of many admirable traits of character. which endeared her to all who knew here. She had been a devout Christian her entire life. Her funeral was held at Iatt cemetery, Iatt, La. Friday, June 30, 1932.
