SLAYTER MARRERO, La. - Valson Leon Slayter, 47, of Marrero died Monday March 8 1971 at his residence. He was a Machinist, a Navy veteran of World War, II and a native of Dry Prong. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Eloise Luttrell Slayter of Merrero; three sons, Troy Slayter, Vernon Slayter and Dennis Slayter and Dennis Slayter all of Marrero; a daughter, Mrs David Watkins of New Orleans; two brothers, Ray Slayter of Pineville and Alfred Slayter from Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Murry of Williana and Mrs. Betty Stagg of Arkadelphia, Ark.; his mother, Mrs. Vera Slayter of Alexandria, and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Hixon Bros. Pineville Burial was to be in Dry Prong Cemetery.
