STROUD January 2, 1941 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral services were held Saturday, December 21, at Mars Hill Church for George T. Stroud, life-long resident of Winn Parish. Mr. Stroud was 75 years, 1 month, 4 days old. He was a member of the Sardis Baptist church but joined the Antioch Baptist Church at the age of 17. He died at the family residence three miles south of Winnfield, December 20, 1940 at 10:55 p. m. Born in Winn Parish, son of the late Charles DeLaney and Miranda Stroud, he lived his entire life in the parish where successfully pursued his favorite occupation, farming and stock-raising. On January 23, 1896 Mr. Stroud was married to Miss Tenny Eagles, daughter of the late Edward Eagles, Sr., and Nancy Scarborough Eagles. Nine children were born to them, eight of whom survive. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tenny Stroud and the following children: Mrs. Ethel Jarnagin, George Dewey Stroud, Lambert D. Stroud, Mrs. Bettie Whisonant, Mrs. Bessie Spillars, and Eugene Thomas Stroud, all of Winnfield; also James Louis Stroud of Haynesville and Elmer E. Stroud of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Elvira Durham of Hargis Community, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Henry Keyes of Sardis Church and Rev. Jimmie Jones of South Winnfield Baptist Church, under the direction of the Edmonds Funeral Home, with interment in the Mars Hill Cemetery. Submitted by Greggory E.
